Join Captain Thea Thomas for a 4 hour trip on her bowpicker FV Myrmidon, on the incoming tide. You’ll cruise along the shoreline from Odiak Slough to Hartney Bay where you might observe Western and Least Sandpipers, Dunlins, Semi-palmated Plovers, Caspian Terns, and a variety of gulls. From there, head towards Big Point which often has Whimbrels, White-fronted Geese, and Marbled Godwits. Weather depending, check out Shag Rock for potential Black Oystercatchers, then head towards Little Egg Island for potential Red Knots.

Special Guided Birding Tours
Alaska Wild Wings has been offering informal guiding for birders and photographers along the Copper River Highway and Orca Inlet since 1974. Dr. Pete Mickelson is a retired Associate Professor of Ornithology and Wildlife Biology at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. He lives on the border between the Copper River Delta and Orca Inlet in Prince William Sound and regularly contributes to eBird. Dr. Mickelson is the author of "Natural History of Alaska's Prince Willaim Sound," and "Country Self-Sufficiency."

During this food tour, you will meet us at a local eatery, Kayak Cafe, for an insightful presentation about our family’s fishery, and a tasting of our incredible salmon. You'll get to meet the fishermen and ask questions about Cordova, fishing, and much more!

ILANKA CULTURAL CENTER
SHOREBIRD PAINT NIGHT
Join Tribal artist, Jessicca Jones, for a shorebird-centric paint night experience. Paint a 6” x 12” canvas with personal instruction in a fun, social environment. Shorebird Festival registrants and Ilanka Cultural Center members are eligible for $5 discount, but the class sign-up is open to everyone.
